Belle River sits where its namesake river meets Lake St. Clair. It has the short commercial main street, the municipal marina and the beach that the rest of the municipality does not, and an older residential grid behind them. Newer subdivisions run south and west from that core toward County Road 22.
It is also the reason this half of the region cannot be carved up by postal code. Belle River straddles N8L and N0R — the same street has active listings in both — so the area is defined by distance from the town centre instead, which is how anyone local describes it anyway.
