Harrow is a village with its own main street and school; Colchester is the harbour and beach settlement south of it on Lake Erie. Between and around them sits the densest concentration of vineyards and estate wineries in Ontario outside Niagara.
Both were part of the former Colchester South township and joined the Town of Essex in the 1999 amalgamation, which is why listings here are addressed "Essex" despite being a twenty-minute drive from the town of that name. Locally nobody calls this Essex.
